Goal of the Course
The Fellowship Program is designed to provide comprehensive training for the individual who wishes to participate hip and knee replacement surgery. The fellow will have a diverse experience in both the clinic and operating room, with the opportunity to understand a wide spectrum of arthritis & other pathology indicated for hip and knee replacement.
Objectives
To indicate the multi-disciplinary approach in the management of Arthritis. To evolve the fellow into a specialist Joint Replacement Surgeon well versed with the basic skills and well oriented with the advanced skills in the holistic management of Arthritis. The fellow will be exposed to the basic knowledge of Arthritis, Tribology, Biomechanics and Joint Replacement. To support the fellow to undertake research in Medical Management of Arthritis, pathology of Arthritis, newer surgical approach, procedures and long term evaluation of Joint Replacement.
Course Contents
Biomechanics; Indication; Pre-Operative Planning; Templating; Surgicals techniques; Soft Tissue Handling and their importance; Implant Biomechanics and Merits & De- Merits; Implants Choices; Rehabilitation; Outcomes; Complications – Pre, intra and Post – Operative; DVT Prevention; Blood Management during Arthroplasty Surgeries; Infection in Arthroplasty; Revisions, Principles and Practice; Current Concepts.
Certificate of Completion
Once the Fellow clears the evaluation successfully, the fellow will be awarded a Certificate of Completion of the Fellowship Program from Vijaya Institute of Trauma & Orthopedics, Chennai.
